The Groove Hawgs were formed in 1997 by radio personalities
Rick Lewis and Michael Floorwax in Denver, Colorado. Lewis and
Floorwax have had one of the top rated morning radio shows in the
country since 1990. For most of the early part of the 90's, Lewis and Floorwax performed stand-up comedy shows for sold out audiences
around the state of Colorado. Typically a band would open the comedy
show and occasionally Lewis and Floorwax would sit in for a song or two. This went quite well, so the radio duo decided to form their own band, hand-picking the best musicians they could find from the fertile music scene in the Mile-High City.

The first gig the band ever played was opening for CCR and the Doobie Brothers at Red Rocks Amphitheater in July of 1997. The Groove Hawgs got a standing ovation from the music fans at Red Rocks and this opened some doors for them with several concert promoters. Since then, the Hawgs have shared the stage with legendary bands like the Allman Brothers, James Brown, Ted Nugent, BB King, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Winter, George Thorogood, Def Leppard, Buddy Guy. The Who and many more. The Groove Hawgs had the honor of playing the last concert ever at McNichols Arena with ZZ Top before it was torn down.

The Groove Hawgs reputation continues to grow and sold out audiences keep coming back for more. The Groove Hawgs are proud to say that they give 100% of their profits from CD and merchandise sales to the Lewis and Floorwax Kid's Fund. This fund has given back hundreds of thousands of dollars back to the community.
